Why Vision Boards work and how to make one!

The first step of creating your future is to DEFINE it! A life with no clear VISION is like driving a car with no destination and no directions.

Without knowing what you want, you will become like a lost sheep and go through life in a circle. It is said that one of the primary reasons of unhappiness is that people are not clear of what they want in their lives. As a result, they get dissatisfied with the quality of their lives. They end up confusing lack of clarity with unhappiness.

Things will be different when you have a vision board. When you know what you want, you can then take specific action to achieve them. It will help you get your thoughts and actions working in a purposeful direction.

The human imagination is powerful, but it works like a muscle. For most of us, that power remains potential power and it’s never fully utilized. We all have dreams and desires. Vision board allows you to prevent your dreams from going into oblivion, by bringing them from your subconscious mind into your conscious mind. It is the first step in turning the invisible into the visible. It gives a sense of direction and purpose to your life.

A vision board allows you to exercise your imagination regularly, creating a more vivid version of your ideal life. It allows you to automatically tune into your fantasy of an ideal life, by helping you develop a clearer sense of what you desire. As you do this, you may uncover new facts about your deepest values and what you want out of life. Focus your attention on who you are and what you can achieve, rather than on what you don't have.

In the simplest terms, a vision board (or dream board) is a collection of images that represent your dream life. The aim of this tool is to focus your energy on a particular dream you have. As you find and display the images, you gain clarity on what you want to achieve, making your dreams increasingly more concrete.

Visualization is one of the most powerful mind exercises you can do.

According to the popular book The Secret, "The law of attraction is forming your entire life experience and it is doing that through your thoughts. When you are visualizing, you are emitting a powerful frequency out into the Universe." You have to visualize your dream life and let it consume your thoughts everyday in order to have it access your subconscious. This creates a subtle shift in your subconscious mind, which begins the process of helping you to create the life you desire.

Once it’s there, it can help your conscious self create ways to accomplish those things. This goes hand in hand with the law of attraction. The idea that the more you think about it and surround yourself in it, the chances are that you’ll receive it.

Your vision board allows you to have clarity on the big picture.

An effective way to help you visualize what you want is through the use of a vision board. Whatever you want in your life, visualize it and create a vision board for it. Whether it is a healthier body, a loving relationship, more money, increase confidence, having a vacation in the Hawaii, or building a multi-million-dollar business, you can greatly increase your chances of success through envisioning them with a vision board.

Visualization is one of the most powerful tools that is available in everyone’s arsenal to achieve great success in life. And the use of a vision board has been scientifically proven to be able to increase the activity of visualization through our minds. When we look at the pictures of the things that we want, we will imagine the achievements, the enjoyment and the fulfillment we get from them. A graphical representation is said to have a more powerful impact on your subconscious mind.

Now you must be thinking: “What should I put on my vision board?”

Anything that inspires and motivates you.

1. Start with a Life Audit

Start by figuring out where you stand in the 8 life areas of career, health, relationships, finances, personal development, self-care, home life and free time.

2. Create a Vision

Define where you want to be in those life areas.

3. Create a Vision Board

Include pictures in your board that represent your dreams and desires, words that will motivate you and positive self-affirmations that will keep you strong.

What should you include in your vision board?

Your vision board should be as clear as possible, involving every detail of the things you want to accomplish. You shouldn’t however, over clutter your board which will make it useless. For instance, if you want a car, include a picture of the car model and colour that you want, this is what including the details refers to. If you feel that your vision board will be too cluttered, you might consider creating two or more different visual boards.

Keep in mind while putting together your vision board.

1. Keep it neat and be selective about what you put in your vision board.

2. Simplicity and clarity brings focus, while a cluttered board attracts chaos in your life.

The purpose of your vision board is to bring everything on it to life.

Once completed, place it where you can see it often- your laptop, phone wallpaper, room, workplace etc.

It Activates the Law of Attraction: what you focus on expands.

When you see your vision board daily, you essentially end up doing short visualization exercises throughout the day. This will bring into your life the people, resources, and circumstances required to achieve your goals. The Law of Attraction works by magnetizing that which you focus on. Using a vision board will help amplify your concentration and focus your direction. You'll be amazed at how things just start popping up all over the place once you set the intention for what you want and how you want to feel.

When you practice visualization with your vision boards every day, you will develop your commitment and determination toward what you want to achieve in life. Studies have found that people who often see themselves as someone successful are less likely to give up on their dreams. Highly successful people like Oprah Winfrey, Steve Jobs, Elon Musk, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Tiger Woods often seen themselves as successful, regardless of what challenges they went through in the process.

So friends, it’s never too late to begin. Vizualize your future with your Vision Board.

Have you made yours yet?
